Two quail and two kids
Max and Zephyr have been hunting for pheasant (and/or quail) since we got to Kansas. They have been going on occassional Saturdays or days Max has off with some buddies from the squadron. He finally brought home two quail (good thing we're not relying on him for our food!-just kidding Max:)) last Saturday. JB was very eager to hold one and do everything his Daddy did with them. Gloria just thought, "oh cool, a birdie!"
Max and JB plucked the feathers off of them and I cooked the birds that at this point looked like mini chickens. They kind of tasted like chicken, but better. They tasted so good! They did not taste anything like dove (which can be good, but you have to work hard to make them taste good, I think). Anyway, Max finally fed his starving (not so much) family.

It's been fun keeping up with your family since joining the blogging era. I've been tryig to get the rest of our family to join us becasue it helps us to stay "connected" to each other, which has been a problem for us Showalters. We do well when we are together, but because we see each other so rarely, there is so much to get caught up on.
I ususally check every day to see if there is something new.I especially like "Stack Lion" and Stack Lion meeting the other "Stack Lions". Don't you wish you could get into there minds to see how they come up with this stuff?!
Thanks for the memories.
