Mountain Memories

Evelyn started teething again in Colorado and went back and forth on this hike between being miserable because of her teeth to being quiet and looking around.  If I had been a smart and thoughtful mom I would have brought some baby Orajel or something.  Eventually she just konked out and Max and I took advantage of it by just walking and hiking as much as we could while she slept.  Max was afraid she would attract mountain lions when she was crying, so it almost cut our hike short, but thank God she fell asleep.
This little lake (pond maybe?) had a beautiful water fall at one end of it and the sound of it is what drew us to it.
A tree busting through a rock.
Evelyn is holding a piece of Aspen branch that Max gave to her to try to soothe her aching gum.  It worked for a little bit.  He's also using the Aspen to display our love on a tree...Aspens are good for lots of things...
Awwwwww!
A break so that Evelyn could have a picnic next to a boulder.
This was one of those happy times (as opposed to wailing from teething).

Other Fun Colorado activities...

See, I am a farm girl....

Benaiah feeding the pony

Benaiah at the creek.  Where's my bathing suit when I need it?  Too many girls around here to run around in the nude, but I'd do it if Mom would let me...

Gloria at the creek.

Creek time and a hike along the creek...

Baby birds hidden in the grass...The Mama Grekel (?) was not happy that we were peeking in on her babies.
JB and Gloria looking at the nest.
In the beginning of our stay in Colorado it was hot and the creek felt very refreshing.  JB is showing his strength standing up against the "rushing" waters...
Just playin'

A view of the Bremer ranch from the other side of the fence across the creek.  The boys were help building the dam back up since the beavers had abandoned it.

Zephyr trying to fetch a piece of petrified wood from the bottom of the creek.  Zeph is a pretty scary dog you know.  We found branches that the beavers had chewed off that had turned as hard as a rock and didn't float anymore...I think it confused Zephyr a bit...

The First Week in Colorado - Happenings

Flying kites in the pasture...
JB and Gloria totally entranced by the duo in violin playing...Elliot Sealy and Lolli (both Wings Like Eagles counselors staying with the Bremers and friends from South Carolina)
Gloria dressing a doll
Elliot teaching Gloria how to play the violin
Elliot playing the violin for Ricky, Gloria, and JB.  Violin players are cool.
Playing cards

showing some skin and sporting a thong...

...or maybe it's just a major Johnny Jump Up wedgy...

Another Attempt to get up-to-date

We have SO MANY June pictures and experiences I want to share with loved ones, but I don't feel like I've had a spare moment between the garden up-keep, a certain baby and 3-year-old, and most recently, 2nd grade VBS, which was WAY more work than I expected, but worth it!  I'm missing JB and Gloria, but they are having a great time with their grandparents in Colorado.  Camp is over for them, the other campers, and the counselors, but I can't wait to hear about it from them (assuming we ever get them back!).  They also have a family of friends in Colorado, like the Reimers, the Tafoyas, and others who home school and have young kids.  They also got to spend time with counselors who stayed at the house and are long-time friends of the Bremers, the two youngest Sealy boys, their friend, Lolli, and Max's cousin, Rachel.  I don't have any problem with them hanging (sometimes literally) around these teenagers and other camper friends because they are Godly, wonderful people and their friends' parents are raising polite, wonderful, God fearing kiddos.

Now, back to catching up on pictures...Here are some from back in the beginning of June while all of us were still here in Oklahoma (JB and GLoria are still in Colorado as I type this)...

Benaiah loves to match his favorite machines...
After our neighbor, Mr Adams, took some dirt from one part of the land and dumped it where we needed a level spot for our hopeful above-ground pool, apparently a spotted salamander was displaced.  VERY displaced...I looked them up online and they are the South Carolina state amphibian...This one was far from home.  It's fun and interesting to the various frogs, lizards, and salamanders around here.
Evelyn got her first ride on the 4-wheeler.  She was ready to work the controls...
Benaiah: "You have something on your back JB!  I can get it for you!"

You should see us on the highway...Just kidding...we had an interesting and very bumpy ride to the Red River.  This was a very hot day and we were a bit disappointed that the water, although moving, was very warm.  However, it was a fun adventure.  Something kinda interesting...this river water is salty...not what I was expecting...

Something about the tongue...

...must mean they're having fun!

Sweetness

This baby is getting heavy!

Nuts

These kids had their Wheaties this morning!  Actually, I think it was Oatmeal Squares.
