Fun Fish

Can you see the fish with the rocky background? JB caught this little sunfish with his very own fishing pole. I think for her 3rd birthday Gloria will get her very own fishing pole. She kept asking where hers was and I kept having to tell her that she didn't have one. JB is very good at casting, he just has to work on watching the bobber and reeling in at the right time.

Big Benaiah!

Smiling
Serious
Benaiah had his 2 month appointment yesterday and he weighed a whopping 16 lbs 12 oz. He was 100th percentile for weight and 95th percentile for height. However, he's a bit of a pin head because his head circumference was only in the 50th percentile for his age. Despite his small head, he is very alert for his age too. He's already reaching for things and smiles and talks to me after or during nursing. This is very cute, but can get a little frustrating if nursing is taking a long time because of his desire to socialize... mostly cute though:).

I took out JB and Gloria's baby books yesterday to compare weights at two months. JB weighed 13 lbs, Gloria weighed 15 lbs, and Benaiah is almost 17 lbs! We thought Gloria was big.

Gloria Bathing Benaiah

Gloria wanted to help me bathe Benaiah this morning. He needed some cleaning in his creases, of which he's getting more and more. I told her she could bathe his body and I would do his face and head. She must've forgotten I said that because as soon as I squeezed water from the washcloth carefully onto his head she squeezed some with her washcloth into his face. He didn't seem to be too bothered, just a little startled.

Benaiah Sleeping

You can see that he is a chubbub in these pictures. The last one with his arms down is after I started the swing again and startled him. He didn't wake up though.

Now For a Cute Gloria Story

I froze orange juice into popcicles for the kids and today we got them out of the freezer and the kids took them outside. Gloria found a kitchen towel outside (brought out by Zephyr, no doubt) and came back inside holding the bunched up towel in both of her hands. I asked her where her popsicle was and she peeled back a bit of the towel allowing me to view the precious popsicle. Then she said, "my postidle was cowd" . If I allowed that to continue, it would've all been absorbed by the dripping towel and she would say "oohhh, my postidle mewted".

"Udderly" Cute

This JB story is a mixture of cute, funny, and embarrassing, but I'll tell it anyway. JB came into my bedroom while I was nursing Benaiah one day and said very seriously, "Mom, I have an idea: how about you make more milk in your...udders so that Benaiah can grow faster and play with me." Benaiah is actually growing like a weed so it may not be long before he's playing with his older "brudder." At his one month check-up he weighed 14 lbs (a gain of more than 4 lbs from birth) and was 23 inches (increase in length of about 2.5 inches). I just got size 3 diapers for him today and Max is already calling him "chunk-o-child."

Another cute/funny JB tale is when he came into the kitchen (where I was) from the living room (where his Granddude was) and told me he wanted to find some balls to show Granddude how to juggle. I told him to go ahead and find some balls then. He said he only knew how to juggle one ball so that was all he needed.

Justin's Intro

Actually, here is the kids' introduction to their Uncle Justin. They probably didn't remember meeting him two years ago in Kansas City. After we left the party JB asked when he was going to see his "buddy" again.

Allison and Gloria

Gloria with her "Autie Allison". Allison and Gloria got to know each other better when Allison visited and helped out a lot around the time of Benaiah's birth.

Justin's Grad Party

Max, the kids, and I didn't make it to Justin's graduation from medical school in Kansas City, but we did make it to the celebration at a really good Italian restaurant afterwards. Justin hadn't seen his niece and nephew in a couple of years.

Cabelas!

Our visit to Cabelas in Kansas City. It was like a store/museum/amusement park.

Strawberry Picking

JB is the strawberry of his Granddude's eye.

Raspberries!

They enjoyed eating them off their fingers. At least they're healthy.

Father-Daughter Moment

Gloria is swinging and serenading her dad and he is enjoying it. He asked JB to go get a fan and fan him, but obedience only goes so far...

Benaiah

Here is Benaiah at almost a month old (tomorrow). He pretty much looks like a clone of his big brother JB. Benaiah was almost two pounds bigger at birth and his hands and feet are bigger with fingers and toes being longer, but other than that I don't see any differences yet. He is a laid-back baby and only cries if he is hungry or tired or has tummy trouble, which isn't too bad right now because I figured out that I can't eat dairy products. He does not have as loud of a cry as I remember Gloria having. Gloria seems to be in a brother sandwich and she's doing pretty well handling it. She has her times when she is extra clingy, but overall she is a good big sister (and little sister - I think JB would agree most times).
